i stepped out of myself for a moment
went back to the old me
    self doubting, insecure, wishy washy
    in need of validation

    i thought she was gone
that woman who I disliked immensely
but held on with a vice grip
    like a scared child

    she came out of hiding
when I got too wrapped up in you
talked with you a little too long
dug up a few too many emotions

    she lost it
    for a moment
    she lost it

but I came back into myself
    came back the original me
    self knowing, secure, straight arrow
    i validate myself

    i like being here
this woman who I love immensely
who calls on herself when she is needed
    like a confident adult

    she looked the other way
when I got too wrapped up in you
talked with you a little too long
dug up a few too many emotions

    she found it
    for a lifetime
    she found it

    she is here to stay
    and as for you
there is nothing left to say
