The old me is someone I choose not to be
    Because she deserves better…..
My past was filled with lies and riff raft
But I distance myself from that trash
    Because she deserves better…..
I’ve made her cry which hurts my soul to be
Makes me want to be a better me
    Because she deserves better….
    She understands my mistake
But my bull she won’t take
    Because she deserves better….
She was mistreated, taken for granted
She get her respect.. she demands it
    Because she deserves better….
    I’m that Afro-American
    Working harder that a Mexican
    Because she deserves better….
So I stand as her man, Her Husband
Doing what needed to be done
Focused on her, my moon, my sun
    Cause she deserves better…..
Got me up at 11 o’çlock writing this letter
    Because she deserves better….
    So better I will be…
    Better for her….
    But mostly better for me….
