for my mother and her heart

My mother's tears make me feel helpless
now that i'm a mother I know what
it is to shed them alone in the middle of the night

But my mother's tears are not always visible
yet I know inside, she's crying
I know I could bring her comfort
if she would share her sorrow

She's so concerned that I have my own problems
always thinking about others, always listening
to my issues, when I know she needs her quiet time
I talk and talk so maybe she'll be encouraged

to share her pains with me
but she keeps it in, almost like she needs
her tears...like they soothe her heart
I've thought she kept them hidden in order to protect
    something... someone...

My mother's tears fall from her heart
and I got close enough to hold her in my arms
    and felt it beating slower...slower...
almost like something inside was dying

I kissed her, and she smiled and pulled away
so she could keep on crying

There is so much sorrow in this piece... I feel as though I can relate to every word in which you have written... at one time I felt the same way about my mother too.

Thank you for sharing this piece.

    such wisdom and beauty, here

and your insight proves how much you understand; and there are times when it's not important to know, or necessary to do anything about someone's unspoken heartaches...or their unspeakable joy...and just let them keep on crying.

thank you for sharing your sweet heart

    simply beautiful

writing a piece such as this only comes from having a loving heart and a deep understanding of the person you know as your mother...

it's always beautiful to see a child look upon a parent as a person, not just a parent..and to let that mother or father know, that you do understand...

    a caring, loving tribute...
