In the shadows
there is a presence that looms
It swirls and curls
then it zips and zooms

Something gently taps a shoulder
in the shadows, causing one to turn
with a start... Causing curiosity to build,
a mystery one yearns to learn

In the shadows, one can be held at once
taken and swept away
by a dark mist that captures the soul
wishing to hold off the light of day

There are dreams in the shadows
Sleeping images that wink and smile
I've seen dreams that come alive thru a veil
felt the caress of midnight lace for quite a while

The shadows have provided a barrier
some shade to buffer the penetrating sun
The heat of which can be quite intense... I want
to bask beneath those rays, til the day is done

Even at the risk of getting singed
To fully appreciate the shadow's caress
and the sun's intensity
I must confess
It's an eclipse that destiny longs to profess
