Check this site out ... you can click on your state, enter your county or zip code and see pictures, names, addresses, etc., of the convicted sexual predators living in your neighborhood.

Of course I've checked mine out and was surprised there are so many!

Keep an eye on the babies.

    Destee...

This is some interesting stuff ain't it sis!!

Since I work in a large social service organization that has 6 neighborhood centers located within the core-inner city ~ our agency often gets the "profile" sheets of sex offenders when one is released in a surrounding neighborhood...

Staff are also always looking up information on our Minneapolis -local crime information/alert website too via the City of Minneapolis website.

Thanks for this national website information though.

I wonder if they will begin putting all type of convicted criminal behaviour online like this ... convicted drug dealers, robbers, domestic violence, etc. Hmmmm ... do you get other type of info coming thru your office N2 or is it just the sexual offenders?

Thank you for the link, Destee. But too bad KY doesn't provide info. online. Indiana does (I work there), but it's not as conveniently accessible as some other states. Good resource, though.

    !!!

I checked this site a few times. It was quite surprising to find so many within a mile radius of my home. I check the other zip codes around me as well. At one time, that I had a sexual predators right on my block, now that was shocking.

The thing is, sexual abuse and molestion is not new. The Catholic church is still in denial about the crimes commited by its own clergy. and not to single out Catholics, but as of late they are getting lots of media attention. Because of the stigma of sexual abuse, the cycle can continue. Oftentimes, the victim can become the predator.

My son could start kindergarten next year. Whenever he starts, i won't be putting him on the school bus. Here in MN, we have had too many incidents of school bus drivers taking advantage of children.

here's another shock, at the beginning of the school year, an elementary school hides or suppress knowledge of a 5 year old boy being sexually assaulted by one or more older boys - all under 11 years of age. The other boys may not have participated by watched. The school didn't report it to the police and therefore evidence lost and charges couldn't be brought. The mother of the abused child didn't know what had happened until days later.
