Oprah And Tyler Perry Tell Don Lemon Sony Emails About Obama Are Not Racist

In a tweet Rhimes wrote, “Calling Sony comments “racially insensitive remarks” instead of “racist”? U can put a cherry on a pile of Sh*t but it don’t make it a sundae.”

That’s about as blunt as one can get on the subject.

However, movie producer Oprah Winfrey wouldn’t go as far as Rhimes when I asked her about it on Sunday night at the premiere of her new movie Selma.

Today's generation is so detached, and ignorant of their history from that era, and as a whole here in America that it's a waste. If I had my choice, I rather one be made about X. We've gotten out rumps kicked enough throughout history.

Peace!

And quest what else, today's generation aren't the only ones ignorant of this history, check this out:

Acclaimed film 'Selma' disappoints LBJ historian

John Lewis, D-Ga., arrive in the Great Hall at the LBJ Presidential Library in Austin, Texas, to attend a Civil Rights Summit to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Civil Rights Act. Updegrove, said the film, "Selma," that opens in theaters Thursday, Dec. 25, 2014, incorrectly portrays President Lyndon B. Johnson as an obstructionist to the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. "Selma" is based on the 1965 marches from the Alabama cities of Selma to Montgomery that were led by King. (AP Photo/Carolyn Kaster, File)

The director of the LBJ Presidential Library in Austin, which hosted a major civil rights summit this year that was headlined by four U.S. presidents, said the film that opens in theaters Thursday incorrectly portrays Johnson as an obstructionist to the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

LBJ Library Director Mark Updegrove said the film unfairly casts Johnson as a sort of composite character who represents the obstacles blacks faced in getting civil rights laws passed. What history shows, Updegrove said, is that Johnson and King had a partnership.

He said Johnson and King had disagreements but not like the film suggests. Updegrove called the portrayal unfortunate given the current climate following the deaths of unarmed black men at the hands of police.

Fact-Checking the Film: 'Selma'

Selma has won critical raves for its depiction of Martin Luther King, Jr., and the crucial 50-mile civil-rights march from the small Alabama town to the state capitol in Montgomery in March 1965. But the stirring and tense historical drama, which opened in select theaters on Dec. 25 and expands on Jan. 9, has also drawn the ire of some historians:

Movie: After King (David Oyelowo) accepts the Nobel Peace Prize in Oslo, a terrorist bombing of a black church in Birmingham kills four girls.
Real life:King accepted his Nobel in December 1964, shortly before turning his attention to Selma. The horrific blast in Birmingham occurred more than a year earlier, on Sept. 15, 1963. But King cited the tragedy in his speech, giving the filmmakers license to fit the two events together. Even if it’s not immediately clear that the shocking blast is a flashback, the two scenes work together to establish the stakes for King and other black Americans in 1964-65.

Here’s a snippet:

“…Writing in The Washington Post, Joseph A. Califano Jr., one of Johnson's top aides, accuses the movie of using "dramatic, trumped-up license." "In fact," he adds, "Selma was LBJ's idea, he considered the Voting Rights Act his greatest legislative achievement, he viewed King as an essential partner in getting it enacted -- and he didn't use the FBI to disparage him..."
