This morning eye watched Gail and Oprah Winfrey discuss her new movie. Oprah says and thinks that in light of the current Black Holocaust in AmeriKKKa on unarmed black men that we need a movie about the last three months in the life of Martin Luther King, Jr. ---to quail the situation.
The Civil Rights Movement actually went debunk in 1979 --along with affirmative action, which were both "real" life events.

Question: So what makes Oprah Winfrey think that a non-bioptic movie is going to help?

Answer: It isn't. Martin Luther King Jr. should have had a "plan" instead of a pie in the sky dream that never took flight! And....and just as Malcolm X stated "WE HAVE BEEN HOOKWINKED AND BAMBOOZLED"...

The use of movies to solve real life social issues is like serving a pacifier to an adult.

Today's generation is so detached, and ignorant of their history from that era, and as a whole here in America that it's a waste. If I had my choice, I rather one be made about X. We've gotten out rumps kicked enough throughout history.

    Peace!

Oprah is dead wrong, and I agree with your assessment, Fine1952. The movie, at best even though it's non-biographical, supposedly, is more a lesson in history as bro. Enki indicates, which is good for unknowing generations, if there is such a thing.

Oprah forgets the significance of Martin's definition on rioting and looting:

"It is not enough for me to stand before you tonight and condemn riots. It would be morally irresponsible for me to do that without, at the same time, condemning the contingent, intolerable conditions that exist in our society. These conditions are the things that cause individuals to feel that they have no other alternative than to engage in violent rebellions to get attention. And I must say tonight that a riot is the language of the unheard."
    http://wagingnonviolence.org/featur...t-mlk-would-have-said-about-the-london-riots/

Clearly, Martin desired the society to listen to the language of those rioting and looting before condemning them. That that language merely expresses the intolerable conditions under which Black folk live. Much the same today.

Moreover, the movie points to a single leader, which we are without, as opposed to crediting the uprisings to grassroots. As such, Sharpton and the others that are out front, must include these young folk at the consensus table, and together we confront the establishment to listen to our voices, for resolutions.

Brother, you are right. Malcolm's Message to the Grassroots should be the thesis of the movie, and the basis upon which we organize to bring about real solutions.

You masterfully hit all points bruh...Moreover, the movie points to a single leader, which we are without, as opposed to crediting the uprisings to grassroots

Here is the thing with me, when I use to hear his voice as a child, it moved you. We use to sit in silence because you didn't want to miss a word. It maybe unfair, but I have yet see any actor that have that, what ever it was in their voice. So they come across as being flat. Looking at the trailer just reinforces that, it feels like a swing and a miss.

We don't need something to "calm us", we need a movie that is going to keep this ground swell energized and moving. Once again, we have the world, watching us, so lets find a way to use that. America is kool with hiding it's dirty laundry. IMO, Oprah is like some of the blacks back in the day that opposed X, they were set, and they didn't want to have that apple cot upset.

    Peace!

That is precisely the point bruh, Malcolm gave us the answer, but those that should be listening, are too busy attempting to be another King, or another Malcolm, needless to say a Garvey ... Those days of single Leaders are long gone, we are grassroots pockets of unity now that needs amalgamation, galvanizing, yep! Malcolm saw this day and recognized the Grassroots factor.

Also, it's too much money, and politics in the "civil rights" movement. You didn't see MLK, or X doing the things you see Al, and Jesse doing. Also, those that work to keep us ignorant always want to make it seem like these two bruthas were bitter enemies, but these pic say otherwise.

    [IMG] upload_2014-12-15_10-17-3.jpeg [IMG]

Jesse, nor Al can do this on their own. When you heard he was speaking, you went, white and black alike.

Here's x, he had the same power as King to draw folks.
