I attend a church and every time I go, the whites sit on one side of the room and the blacks sit on the other side...And during evening service only the blacks attend and the whites do not. And I rarely see them talk to one another.

I'm going to. Because tonight it was really disturbing and uncomfortable....well it always is. I just don't know how to go about saying it.

say it just like you said it here. but, let me ask you.. why does it bother you
that they are not interacting? Is their an air of animosity along with the silence?

Because we are "supposed" to be brothers and sisters in Christ. And yes, the animosity with the silence is bothersome.

As Christians, we're supposed to be "Christ-like", but to me this behavior is anything but.

If they don't like each other.. how did they end up in the same church?
is it the only Church in town? Are you down south?

A lot of the African-American members come from another congregation from the same church, but was predominately black. As did I and my family.

There are 4 Churches of Christ in my city, some chose to go to this one for their own personal reasons. Why, I do not know.

The pastor of this church is black. He recently began ministering there a couple years ago. At that time I was not going there. So I don't know much about his coming to be there.

As for the location, it is located in Washington State.

I don't know why it is like this. Even when the pastor has people over for dinner only the black people show up.

It's like a none Christiant way and a place you shouldn't want to be
but going to the elders and or the pastor to express your concerns
is the best thing to do.

I too suggest bringing this up to the pastor, and others who attend...the way I see it we only have a few short years on this planet, and not at all an I speaking of the 2012 paranoia..I am talking in terms of less than 100.. Why not question what concerns us, especially what makes us uneasy when in your situation, gathering under one accord to show honor to a teacher (jesus) who according to scripture, taught that all believers are one in spirit... I personally do not attend church, however I could imagine how akward that must feel to the congregation, so yeah I'd discuss it, because I am certain you are not alone in feeling that....sounds unhealthy, bizarre, and disappointing. I really cannot see any other logical reasoning other than deep rooted traits of the south maybe, but old ways used to disban and disconnect followers? By speaking up you may agitate the church somewhat but bringing it to the forefront and airing out what you see as backwards will at least get the answers that you yourself need to know...go for it, Stir it up!

I don't think its a matter of them not liking you or you not liking them. When you walk into your services, why do you choose to sit with other Black people rather than sit with the white people. It's just organic. When I attend NGE rallies, I have noticed that Earths tend to congregate with Earths and Gods with Gods. If I walk into a room of people I don't know, I will sit closer to Black person or a woman than a white person or man. It's a matter of comfort. Now if you go sit next to some whilte folks and they move or ask you to move, then you have problems. But don't create problems where problems don't exist.

    Peace
