Somethin like a first kiss
I can't even explain it
kind of like a pure and untainted
school girl innocence
When holding my hand
was considered good lovin'
and giving me a hug
was considered serious touchin'
When writing me notes
was your way to holla
so young that I had to hide
your hickies with my collar
and the rings that you gave me
were made out of dollars
When walking home after school
was our version of a date
falling asleep on the phone
cause neither one of us could wait
for our next encounter
counting minutes into hours
until we're sitting together on the bus
only different class schedules
could separate us
Pushing me on the swings
and waiting at the slide
counting to ten
and closing your eyes
so you could come get it
after I hide
Creeping up behind me
to young to realize that
I wanted you to find me
At the corner store
buying lemon drops
and the icecream man
in the big white van
selling rocket pops
me and you
waiting at bus stops
seeing you in 4th period
and feeling my heart drop
The first participant
in my adolescent boy craze
Thinking back to grade school
and those innocent school days.
