LET US BE CLEAR: there were several kids recording the incident between the resource officer and the other student...who weren't arrested. she wasn't arrested for recording the resource officer's actions--no adults in the room objected to his actions, so her recording it wasn't an issue--she was arrested for disturbing an already disturbed situation. I had wondered why the other kids were sitting around like nothing was going on...and this resource officer body slamming, and throwing a child across a room was an okay thing to do. OBVIOUSLY, there's a pattern of arresting kids, or expelling them, for having anything to say about anything that happens there. THAT'S ONE THING THAT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED.

WHAT DISTURBS ME MOST, however, is the sheriff's announcement, on CNN, that the principal--who was black...and in the room with the teacher--fully supported the actions of the resource officer...and did not feel excessive force was used. of course, we only have the sheriff's word for that...but we don't have anything from the principal denying it. if the principal, and teachers, condone such actions, can you really imagine a change in the behavior of anyone dealing with students in that school?

This is what the article said. Even the schools up here use this phrase for any and everything they deem is a disruption.

I think this blame lays with the system we are in. This one sista must be one of the awaken ones to know that you just can't stand by and let this happen. Also if that was the principle, he is the problem also. He stood by and watched this sista get treated this way. So the kids see that he has no problem with it, so it must be alright.

Maybe he let that school spokesman speak for him. So when she said that the school district doesn't condone this type of action, he may have taken it to mean him also. Many of us will run up on another black ready to kill them, and say that they don't care about the fallout. But when it comes to YT, we are scared and keep our mouths shut for fear of the fallout.

    Peace!

Arrest of girl who texted in class prompts civil rights case

... The second student, Niya Kenny, told WLTX-TV that she felt she had to say something. Doris Kenny said she's proud her daughter was "brave enough to speak out against what was going on."

Appearing on MSNBC Tuesday night, Niya Kenny said an administrator told her to sit down, be quiet and to put her cellphone away. She refused.

"'This is not right. This is not right,'" Kenny recalled saying in the classroom. "'I can't believe y'all are doing this to her.'"

Kenny said Fields arrested her and handcuffed her inside the classroom ...

I was also ticked off at Don Lemon. I can't believe he said that "we don't know the whole story". Fool it was filmed, and you saw it with your own eyes. There is a petition to get him removed from his show because he has begun to talk, act, and think like the whites when it comes to black issues.

There’s a Change.org Petition to Remove Don Lemon From CNN

    BTW....I signed it.

    Peace!
