Saved Me From Me
By: Afroprincess

Do you remember me
I knelt down on my knees and begged for a blessing
Do you recall my cries
I remember my tear filled eye as I stared up at the bright skies
Did you see me that night
I begged for you to make it alright

Begged for the lights not to shine so bright
Cried for the darkness to let me be
Wanted nothing more than to disappear quietly
But you wouldn’t let me go
You were my friend even when I thought you were a foe

I asked if you remembered me the night I knelt down on my knees
And begged for a darkness blessing
I wanted to know if you recalled my cries because I remember my tear filled eyes
Staring up at the bright sky I prayed would turn dark
I know you saw me that night know you heard me begging to make my choice alright

But you would let me float away
You were determined to make me stay
As a matter of fact you’re the reason I’m here today, breathing in life
Helping to make things right

Although my cry wasn’t heard how I thought it would be
I thank you for having the courage to listen to the words that wouldn’t escape from me
For saving me from me
