    Saved Me From Me
    By: Afroprincess

    Do you remember me
I knelt down on my knees and begged for a blessing
    Do you recall my cries
I remember my tear filled eye as I stared up at the bright skies
Did you see me that night
I begged for you to make it alright

Begged for the lights not to shine so bright
Cried for the darkness to let me be
Wanted nothing more than to disappear quietly
But you wouldn’t let me go
You were my friend even when I thought you were a foe

I asked if you remembered me the night I knelt down on my knees
And begged for a darkness blessing
I wanted to know if you recalled my cries because I remember my tear filled eyes
Staring up at the bright sky I prayed would turn dark
I know you saw me that night know you heard me begging to make my choice alright

But you would let me float away
You were determined to make me stay
As a matter of fact you’re the reason I’m here today, breathing in life
    Helping to make things right

Although my cry wasn’t heard how I thought it would be
I thank you for having the courage to listen to the words that wouldn’t escape from me
    For saving me from me

    Speaking to Afroprincess

Afroprincess, did you know your poem reveals something about you?
    but before say more.
Who did you cry out to?
Was it a mortal or a god ?
What had you done that put you on your knees?

The depth of emotion from which you speak is awesome!

What a beautiful ode to a mystery untold. Like Mark Wilson asked: To whom are you paying reverence? Whomever it is must have much influence in your life:spinstar:

I'll answer some of the questions you asked.
At the time I was talking to God.
I was going through some rough times, like people do, and you get to a point where you need to make some decisions about your life and where it's going...and well sometimes those decisions need to be forgiven.
The part about falling to my knees is true...I was sitting outside after having made my decision about life and I just started crying from thinking so much and I just bent over and knelt down on my knees and had a long conversation with God in my backyard.
Okay, I feel like I should tell you what the decision wasn't: it had nothing to do with abortion (I'm a virgin), nothing to do with suicide (don't believe in it.) and nothing to do with anything illegal. Like I said it was just a turning point in my life where I had to make a few decisions.

Anyway thank you guys for the comments made. They were very encouraging.
