Rx =Medicine From Egypt By Andre Austin The first doctors of medicine came from ancient Egypt. The worlds Physician was Imhotep( B.2980Bc) a multigenius from Egypt. The first Greek physician, Hippocrates (b.460bc) lived 2,200 years after Imhotep. The oath of Hippocrates began by swearing to Apollo (Horus) and Esculapius (Imhotep) A roman physician by the name of galen (b.130Ad) traveled to Egypt and copied the Egyptian priests of writing prescriptions with the symbol Rx. The Rx sign is but a stylized version of the Utchat eye which is an African symbol meaning whole or sound of mind and body free of disease. The right eye is the eye of Horus symbol of the sun. The left eye (Rx represents) is symbol of the moon and called eye of Thoth/Hermes. As an amulet it brings health protection against harm. Arithmetic in Egypt was done by halving rather than addition. The eye of Thoth, a god of math were given value by fractions called hekat, which was used also for measuring volumes of grain. So hekat and Thoth symbolized measurement. For example relationship of moon (eye) and sun (eye) went through different fractions, (quarter moon, half moon, etc), a full/whole moon happened when it was directly opposite of the sun. This makes me see (Luke 11:34-36) in a new light. “The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single thy whole body also is full of light…”. Allegorically Satan gets into a fight with Horus takes his eye out. Satan is cripple by an eclipse (waning of the moon), from which the sun heals by shinning straight upon after the escape of shadow of the earth. (see Plutarch’s Isis & Osiris p.135) The Egyptian kings and priests gave health to the eyes by his rays. Egyptians had a phrase to want to see god to be healed. Moses was an Egyptian not a Jew and he wanted to see the face of god (Exodus 33:11& 18) but could only see God’s back parts and as a result Moses had leprosy and had to wear a veil over his face. This lead Moses to reject the Egyptian religion of Amen and Osiris and started another version linked with Aton and the Jewish religion. Another sign of healing the Egyptians used was a pole with two snakes wrapped around it. Moses, an Egyptian used it as a pole and two bronze snakes. The top of the circular pole was symbolic of the sun and can look at it and live (Numbers 21:8). Even Jesus saw himself as this Egyptian symbol in (John 3:14). Notes: The phrase “eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow we die”-Isaiah 22:13 & 1Cor 15:33 was stolen from Imhotep. Also see Herodotus 2:78.
