student, but not for long
Give me the liberation,
The inspiration,
To feel free to love…
To offer my heart,
Without it being ripped,
Or unfairly caught up,
In a failing relationship.
Free me from the fear,
Of drowning,
As it has happened before,
But I somehow emerged from that sea,
But with my dress of trust torn,
My faith in love worn.

Free me from the fear,
Of being shackled,
Bounded without hope,
Of being released,
From the fear of being,
Committed,
From the fear that it will not be,
A definite exchange.

Free me from the fear,
That you may want more,
Than what I can offer.
You may want my hair to be a little softer,
My waist to be a little smaller,
My eyes to be a little brighter,
My skin to be a little lighter.

Free me from the tendency,
Of putting too much in at first,
From planting my roots too deep,
When the foundation is still weak.
And leaving me emulating,
And painfully ventilating.

With liberty, justice,
Love…it just is
Or should be,
For all….
Including me
I deserve to be lifted,
On its wings.
I think I started something.
A revolution,
The evolution of…
Romancipation.
