I attended a Voudon workshop today (I am still mulling over the ethnicity of the folks in attendance – only three black folk, the rest were white; and not your average common garden variety either, from the attire they had on and way they spoke, it was clear they were middle class, so to hear them waxing lyrical about Voudon like it was the most natural thing was quite an experience! A friend of mine attended a similar workshop at this same venue, and he wasn’t sure who was more shocked – him for being the only black face there, or the white folk at seeing a black person in their midst– he says it almost felt like he was intruding).
However, I digress...
The following is another workplace ritual given at the workshop. This one is aimed at people who are ganging up on you. Please be extra careful with this as you are going to use broken glass, oil and a candle. I have not done this ritual, so cannot attest to its efficacy.
Get a pumpkin and cut open the top, and hollow out the upper section
Get down to the store and purchase a brand new mirror
Very important – do not under any circumstance, look into the mirror
When you hand over the money to the cashier, mumble the names of the above people
Take the mirror, insert it into a cloth and crush it up
Put these crushed bits into the hollowed out bit of the pumpkin
Pour in abit of castor oil and corn oil
Pop a wick in and let it burn for 7 days
To control someone
Write their full name on a brown piece of paper (for a black person, if white, then use white paper). Cut it into a neat rectangular shape
Dress it with cinnamon, honey (or water that has sugar dissolved in it)
Fold the piece of paper towards you
Place their name inside your left shoe; this can either be between the shoe and the foot, or inside the shoe lining
Whenever in their company, or on the phone; tap your left foot as this exerts subtle but distinct dominance on that person. It would help things along if you were cordial to the person.
Peace,
Alexandra
