I love the fact of who we are
so please pardon the flow
some say the mind can reach 23 million
so let's see how far the mind can go
everytime you blink your eyes
you cause a cosmic reaction
you do know u are goddesses and gods
if the answer is yes, please pardon me for askin'
pardon me for my questionable ways
but it comes out my pores
for I've seen us lied to before
so while we conversate, I'm peepin' what comes out of yours
the truth is only true
to those who choose to believe it
like our-story only is true
to those who want to receive it
but overstand some of us are scared
so they always try to re-weave it
even america's educational system
yearly, comes up with ways to re-teach it
so I meditate night and day
just to find ways to re-reach it
thought I came up with a peaceful solution
but my reverend wouldn't re-preach it
scratchin' my head I walked out the church
like how was I supposed to take that
how could I follow somebody
who outright refused to face facts
kinda reminded me on how emperor constantine
set out to deface blacks
but his knowledge was weak
kinda like a new mase track
did it all for the wrong reasons
now his reasons want some pay back
Yeah, I got off the subject for a minute
but let me get back to what I'm talkin' 'bout
freedom, justice & Equality
something none of us can walk without
even physics tells us that unless u have a deep force within
u can't combat the force without
we have to unite & join forces
our love is not something we can toss a'bout
look at those who came before us
and went on such a heroic journey
and gave us the power to write like this
if not for them, they'd be ready to burn me
so I live vicariously thru them
everyday I bow as a student
Inhale their struggle with every breathe
so when I exhale, I'm just tryin' to add to their movement
as I read of Frederick douglass
I suffer right along wit' 'em
had to put the book down for a couple of days
so I picked up booker T., but he suffered right along wit' 'em
so I chose to read the late great John hendrik clarke
but ****, he suffered right along wit' 'em
As a great poet on this site wrote of Assata
she suffered right along wit' 'em
Nat Turner, Denmark Vesey & tuisaant Le'oveture
they suffered right along wit' 'em
Soujerner Truth & harriet Tubman
had the stregnth to go get 'em
almost wish I was born back then
tired of wondering if I would have had the stregnth to go wit' 'em
one of the greatest poets Gil Scott heron
would I have had the stregnth to flow wit' 'em
It's easy for us to talk about the past now, cause we don't really know that reality
as tears come down my face cause I love them, but I'm not sure back then if I would've been right along wit' 'em......................?
i know I missed a lot of people in this scribe
but that's what the pain in your heart will do
and since you and I are 1
I'll leave it to someone on this beautiful site called destee to write part 2...............

The flow and concept was wonderful poet...wow. I had to really put my mind to this, but hey it needed exercising anyway. So here goes...

The hands of our people
reach out in so many ways
do we clasp their weary hands
triggering our consciousness to raise?
Can we possibly match the strategic
mind of Queen Nzingha and fight
the army to defeat? Do we have the drive
to strive to devise a way out of our plight?
What about the heart surgeon Dr. Daniel Hale
Williams, how many share the mental keenness,
while ignoring the many nay sayers who didn't
want him to put into practice his medical genius.
Could we enter into and thrive in the political
arena like former congresswoman Shirley Chisholm did?
If I remember correctly, didn't she run
once for a Presidential bid?
Do we have the perseverance, and the love
for our people to live a lifetime under lock and key,
while keeping a sound mind? Nelson Mandela
accomplished this, still spreading the message of unity.
Now in all sincerity
All I ask is for a slice of their fortitude
to be able to attain that star you see
and reach back and take my Black family
right along with me...
