    Do you know why
    the chained dog howls?
Why he growls and stomps the ground
    till dust is found
& surronds him in a cloud
Ever wonder why he howls to the moon
    waking your neighbors
    thinking its monsoon season--
does this animal have a reason?
He's suppose to be there for breedin'
    & best friendship
Yet all day he clips that
    chain
& wanders free....only to return every eve
Is there a need for locks and keys,
or is this creature a being
    w/some kind of heart....beating
& internal instinct; even if he stinks
    w/ life
    Bare *** in the brush
maybe we don't have it right
    Turnin' cannabis pages every night
saying prayers to Christ to let us loose
    from the strife
Even though we chain the dog
    when the sun ain't bright
Rules render & hinder as limits make us stop
    10 Commandments, Constitutional amendments,
& that hole to hell in which we drop....
Who's happier, that CEO, or that fool w/a mop
I'm in a box that's circular by nature
my mind's encased in a head
    w/360 degrees of information
I'm at the top of the food chain
but dead last in this here nation
on all fours barkin' with no relation
cuzz God ain't neva been human....
So I'm fumin' and fussin'; kickin' and cussin'
    wil-n' out and buggin'
    cuzz 2+2=nothin'
    maybe it's too much studying
    cuzz I hate lookin' at
    caged zoo creatures
They are our feature as we fork
over 20 bills for a ticket
to watch them pace, spit, mate, and lick.....each other
    Then we say
"What a beautiful day we had baby!!!"
I hope God ain't that crazy
For if He is, I hope He's enjoyin'
my rant--and tell Eve that I'm still pissed
    about these pants....
    But free-will's a mother,
    like no other virtue,
it's our brightest bright, and our bluest blue....
What should be said of Absolute Truth,
is existence suppose to be this cruel??
For we drool for money, thinkin'
that's the key, but after 8 hours a day,
20 years of workin', what is enjoyment
    suppose to be???
Limited by time & caged by space
    2000+ years of existence & we're classified
by race....or sex, or sexual preference...
    One wall, Two walls, Three walls, Four;
what the hell are we fighting for?
    Freedom??--when no one is free
    Arguing over the P-L-A-N-E-T
I guess we forgot how to share
So the human experiment continues on earth
    under God's petrie glass
    My only question asks:
Do you know why the caged dog howls......?

I hope this didn't offend anyone, that's not the purpose. I just want people to think, so please, Riddle Me This

    wow...consider me officially impressed...
I completely see your point in this piece
and you conveyed it with such stirring
    emotion and introspection....
I too wonder why we live in such a box...
and for everything we must have
    boundaries, definitions, time frames and
    categories...

    Consciousness...the one thing that
    separates us from the animal...
being cognative of our fate, death,
    existence and always searching for
    that apex experience...of life

that's what makes us have thoughts
like the ones in this piece...

I feel you...this was an Awesome work!
so...why does the caged dog howl...
    Good question...

Much love...pay it forward, Sage :sand:

This did not offend me, but made me think, which was your intention. A society has to have it's rules, or there would be chaos, yet, when rules are rigid we feel chained, just like the howling dog. Intriguing piece.

    Riddle Me This
My brother, this was absolutely clever
    extremely thought provoking
    and wonderfully written...

as to the answer, I have only an opinion and that is...
the same reason the caged man cries, that dog howls...

and we only think that caged bird is singin'
that's a howl screaming out of a short/tiny vocal chord

everything that's caged howls for freedom...

great job brotha...bravo and touche' :toast: :toast: :toast:
