...When a Racist Society is the True Culprit

For more than a decade researchers have invested over $1 billion to study the
connection between race and disparities in health. It’s a staggering amount of
time and money that has heeded no substantial findings in the eyes of many
    researchers.
That’s because, according to these researchers, disparities in health aren’t
    connected to race or ancestry.

“What we found in the literature published from 2007 to 2013 was basically
nothing,” Jay Kaufman, the lead author of the first study to examine available
genetic data for evidence that explains racial-health disparities, told The
    Atlantic.

In other words, it seems that the idea of health disparities being caused solely

by someone’s skin color or ancestry may not be as true as many have long
    believed.

Instead, a host of socially constructed disadvantages that

plague communities of color and low-income neighborhoods
could truly be the culprit behind disparities in health and persistent gaps in
    life expectancy.

If you recall some years ago,

There was a university ( think u. of maryland), do research on
if the violence that black men demonstrated had to do with
    their genetics.

I was like, 'really'? Given this country's background, they wanna
hone in on black folk being violent???

I remember giving a speech to a graduating class of scientists and engineers on that very topic. I told them don't think that they have arrived and are now safe. Because it will be some of your very colleagues that came up with scientific reasons why you were inferior. I reminded them of the "science" that said we have two extra tendons in out legs. That's why we ran so fast. No MD ever challenged that BS.
