Friday, November 11th is Veterans day. It is a day, in which we remember our veterans and the sacrifices they have made.
But does anyone remember, the last time their was a war on American soil and our veterans defended us from foreign invaders? Does anyone know of any veteran, that was killed, maimed, paralyzed or deranged on American soil, defending America?
Does anyone know of a foreign military base on American soil? Does anyone remember, the last time a foreign military tried to remove any American administration by force? Does anyone remember, the last time foreign special forces were roaming around America assasinating or attempting to assasinate American leaders? Does anyone remember, the last time foreign governments were arming and funding rival groups or gangs on American soil, resulting in the death and suffering of so many Americans?
Does anyone remember, the last time they had to flee their home, town, city, state or the country, because there was a war on American soil? Does anyone remember the last time they had no power or running water for months, because a foreign military had bombed their power plant and water systems? Does anyone remember, the last time they badly needed medical care, but the nearest medical centers had been destroyed by war? Does anyone remember, the last time they were afraid to walk in their own neighborhood, for fear of stepping on unexploded explosives? Does anyone remember, the last time their wife, mother or daughter was sexual assaulted in the chaos of war and they or anyone couldn't do anything about it?
Does anyone remember, the last time America fought a war that wasn't based on fabricated reasons? Does anyone remember, the last time America's leaders and other government officials were held accountable for causing the deaths and unimaginable suffering of American veterans and foreigners based on lies?
This veterans day, let us remember. Happy veterans day!

    Good write up eword.

What is the difference between Veterans and paid assassins (Mercenaries) who bring pain and suffering to people around the world?

in a few of your questions, i thought about "D-DAY." (PEARL HARBOR). in some instances, i thought about the civil war. but, for the most part, the U.S. has been exempt from such violations. and, yes, WE THANK OUR VETERANS for that realization. as for our political leaders, well, that's a different story.

    as one veteran (air force), from a family of veterans--1 son-army, 1 son-navy, father-navy, 2 brothers-army, 1 brother-marine, sister-army, nieces, nephews, cousins--I THANK YOU.

    Paid assasins, are people who do what they do cause they enjoy and get a kick out of killing;

While poor young African American sisters and brothers, facing foreclosed homes, evictions, factory towns turning into ghost towns, rabid unemployment, and more employment opportunities from the cosa nostra, then from the local employment agencies, were forced into,
economic necessity drafts, and made 800 per month risking their lives in corporate wars, Black water mercenaries were getting 1600 per week,

    do the math!

Dear Baller, it is not my intention to offend anyone or belittle veteran's service, but to put things in a broader perspective. Instead of just focusing on what happens to the veterans, we should also think about and remember, what happens to the people and the countries our veterans fight in, as well as whether the reasons for our veterans being in other people's countries and the sacrifices they make are justified.
After completing their deployment, veterans return home to a joyous welcome and a country that is still intact, leaving behind a ruined country and broken lives. And for their part the corporate media, ignore in their reports the existence of civilians and what happens to them in the deployment zones.
Sometimes, in order to understand an issue better, you have to imagine yourself in someone else's shoes. How would you react, if what is being done to someone were done to you? Would you feel the same way, if the roles were reversed?

    ??????

Your premiss regarding looking at the victims side is on point since this Friday was/is actually Armistice day , a holiday created at the end of WW I in the hope of the end of all wars, however have you taken a real look at what these "mostly-poor-and-had-no-otherchoice" vets come home to?

    How about joblessness

How about lack of health care

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4299566...veterans-encounter-va-mental-health-meltdown/

    How about homelessness
    http://www.democracynow.org/2005/8/22/former_homeless_veteran_describes_how_horrors

How about suicide, one way or another
    http://www.democracynow.org/2010/10/18/wars_hidden_death_toll_after_service

And while billions are being poured into building up Iraq and Afghanistan, veterans of African descent return to hoods, economical neglected and disenfranchised
