Early in the morning they came without warning
planes from the skies
terrorizing
destroying
banzai
suicide run
hundreds killed
the worst act of aggression in history
we said never again will this happen
yet strangely enough
Early in the morning
planes from the skies
terrorizing
destroying
banzai
suicide run
thousands killed
but this time
using our own planes
inhabited by our own people
robbed of their lives
both in the air
and on the ground
the writing is on the wall
signs of the times
yet reminds us
that we don't have much time

That was then
This is now

Vigilant eyes
spy the skies
the land
the sea
watching for the enemy
not knowing from where they may come
but
ever alert shall we be
but how long will we watch
until the excitement drop?
until we can feel comfortable again?
will we go back to our relaxed lifestyles?
our invincible thinking?
WE DARE NOT
for that may very well be our undoing
let our past be an educational awakening for our future
let us not take life for granted
let us not deny the importance of prayer
let us us not retreat into our former lifestyles
this anniversary is a time for remembering and sharing
but what about 10 years from now
will this day be as powerful?
will we remember?
will we remember inital shock and terror?
maybe so....maybe not
the latter more probable
let us adhere to the handwriting on the wall
our time is short
so must redeem this time that we have
before it's too late
