it doesn't work to hold on, you know
    loosen, release, let it go
expectations, like fiction, never come true
it's thinking they will that hurts
    lead me not into temptation
and away from the church of expectation
    situations are universal constructs
not mine to mold or control
    keep reminding myself of my
    fundamental groundlessness

it doesn't work to hold on, you know
    loosen, release, let it go
people don't really let you down
they just don't do what you want them to
    setting you free
    sets me free
    staying, changing meaning
    not for me to know
    anger at uncertainty go away
open my heart to the fullest

it doesn't work to hold on, you know
    loosen, release, let it go
    when it all falls down
    I can grieve, wonder why
    let the sadness overtake
    me and drown
    or I can give up
    needing to know the reason
    keep going, never stop
deal with it - with me

it doesn't work to hold on, you know
    loosen, release, let it go
    maybe it'll take a lifetime
    to expect the unexpected
to not feel pain when something dies
to learn detachment, renounce the ties
to move on with greater ease
be comfortable with having no control
    but I'll keep trying because
    I want to grow old
it doesn't work to hold on, you know
    loosen, release, let it go

So hard to let go, there can be such a comfort in sameness, even when it's not good for us, at least it's something we know. Releasing is quite a step forward. I hear ya, shaking my head in agreement throughout this piece. Flow on some more poet.

    "loosen, release, let it go"

for me the key is the word loosen.. thinking about it in steps...
may help cause it be so hard, sometimes/most times, to let it go..
i like it gempis...always wisdom in your words.
