    Peering in this mirror
I'm forced to see what I didn't want to
To exist in a world where there was no me
Because I only projected what I wanted to be
Like a character on a movie screen
Now standing here facing myself, lights out
    I can't pretend there's someone else
Although my hair is silky smooth
    makeup perfectly in place
Even got that phony smile plastered on my face
Tuned it to perfection even my momma can't tell it's a fake

But it's in my eyes you see
When you look into my soul
You can see just how unhappy it is being me

Perfect on the outside but dieing on the inside
Because all I allow others to see is a shell of me
I wear many masks to fool those who look to deep

Sometimes I just wish I could be
    FREE

from these stereotypes I see on the TV
from the pressure to always succeed
from the pain of my past
which forces me to reflect and dislike what I see

I just long to be supreme
To reign queen over this being
    Let all my characters go
To let the world see who I
    Be...

Pretending gets to be tiring, especially when you know that being true to self, is key. This piece reflected your beauty within poetess.
