After I do the dishes. I sit in a quite place that is comfortable, where I close my eyes and breath calmly. At first I let what ever enter my mind. Then I focus on my breathing, think of pleasant places that I've been. Just of the place and how it felt on my skin, how it smelled, don't describe it in words, but in pictures.
That should help your thoughts to slow down. It might take many times, but just try to relax and let it be. I hope that helps.
