Sitting in your chair I stare hard and deep into nothing. Inconspicuously and ever so slowly that nothing dissolves into you. I smell you (shea butter and honey) I feel you (hard and soft simultaneously). All the while my body says, “No. It’s not true.” But my mind screams , “Oh but yes!” I sigh, tired from the battle, and lean into you. My head rests on a strong shoulder Your rhythmic breath calls mine to syncopation and stirs my hair. I close my eyes and we become a cloud; moving over a familiar sky. Going back to that time and place where we both felt it… that intense sense of peace and oneness that bound us heart to heart, soul to soul, essence to essence for eternity. I open my eyes and begin to fall. All the air is leaving me as I struggle to hold on to you, to our place, to our feeling… The light is thrown and it all dissolves into me you, that place, and that feeling. I’m whole again. Life, indeed, does go on.
