They stood there
faces coated in ash
which became mud after
the tears joined the mix

there is the sun peering from behind
a cloud of smoke where once stood an
icon of freedom

mouths still agape the last syllable
of the most appropriate word at the time
hanging limp over the edge of a brand new
frown

the people past belief
and frozen in this aftermath
minds still trying to figure the math
that turned on the hot water
for this bloodbath...

they stand scarred 'til
they translate themselves into
beings past this life of
man induced
mental vomiting and the innocent
are covered in throw up

...

will they ever recover?
