I find it hard to say, that everything is alright
Don't look at me that way, like everything is alright
Cuz my own eyes can see, through all your false pretenses
But what you fail to see, is all the consequences
You think our lives are cheap, and easy to be wasted
As history repeats, so foul you can taste it
And while the people sleep, too comfortable to face it
His life so incomplete, and nothing can replace it
And while the people sleep, too comfortable to face it
Your lives so incomplete, and nothing can replace it
Fret not thyself I say, against these laws of man
Cuz like the Bible says, His blood is on their hands
And what I gotta say, and what I gotta say, is rebel
While today is still today, choose well
And what I gotta say, is rebel, it can't go down this way
Choose well, choose well, choose well...
...choose well, choose well, choose well
And while the people sleep, too comfortable to face it
Your lives are so incomplete, and nothing, and no one, can replace it
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no
And what I gotta say, and what I gotta say
And what I gotta say, and what I gotta say
And what I gotta say, and what I gotta say
And what I gotta say, and what I gotta say
Is rebel... rebel, rebel, rebel, rebel, rebel, rebel
    Rebel, rebel, rebel, rebel, rebel
Repent, the day is far too spent, rebel... rebel!
Wake up, wake up, wake up, wake up, wake up, wake up, wake up...
    Wake up and rebel
We must destroy in order to rebuild
Wake up, you might as well
Oh are you... oh are you satisfied
    Oh are you satisfied
    Rebel... ohhh rebel
Why don't you rebel, why don't you rebel?
    Why don't you rebel?
    I'm fading myself down now...

You have a way with words Mike.. you "love her" but you stain her performance
    thread by calling her crazy.

I don't know.. her Art is alive and well.. it is still touching people almost 10 years after
the performance. The thing you have to understand is that Lauryn isn't an
entertainer, she is an Artist.. and an Artist's light emanates from within, not without.
That spotlight you're talking about is from an external source that
really has nothing to do with Art.. and everything to do with business and
money.. Lauryn is as popular as she ever was. Folks all over the world still
listen to her music.. still emulate her stylings.. still think about her lyrics..
still discuss her impact.. Her Art still inspires scores of people.. nothing tragic
about that. I do wish she would come out on a more regular basis with some
new material.. I'd love to hear whats on her mind right now.

I find it interesting that she was being "crazy" when she started telling the pope about himself and refusing to go back into record company agreements and so forth...
What exactly makes her crazy? Because she started wearing crazy makeup & clothes everywhere? I am no superstar but I am a woman. And in my short lifetime I have lived a lot of life; I can relate to looking a madd crazy mess just because you are in a place in your life where the "whirlwinds that be" make no allowances for "proper attire" or "appropriate body weight or appearance" or whateva.
I agree with brother skuder. I feel like her acoustic album was more revealing than anything else she had ever done before. The lyrics were so heavy, so telling. After Dave Chapelle came back from Afrika he did a sit down on INSIDE THE ACTORS STUDIO with James Lipton. They asked him about why he left so abruptly. Why Afrika? Dave Chapelles response to me mirrored so much of what Lauryn Hill was trying and is still trying to say about the industry and the maddness that it pulls out of every being it envelopes.
She is STILL a favorite of mine that stays on rotation.
Nothing but MAADD crazzzzy love for Lauryn Hill.

And frankly... if you think shes crazy... then I dont think you really listened to the entire acoustic album... but she knew that would happen

indeed her bizzare behavior n dropping out of the spotlight had no effect on her music...if she came back today hip-hop n neo-soul would welcome her openly and be happy to have her back...she was truly a great talent...a one of a kind talent..the sort of talent that hip-hop has lacked espically among female artists....her art isnt the tragedy....the tragedy is we saw lauryn hill the person break down in the public eye

I just love how you manage to insult the same person, then compliment them..then insult them, then compliment them.... all in the same sentence:10500:
