A single tear
Rolled down my face
As I exhaled
I stand surrounded by solace
Remembering……….You
I hesitate on that first step
That will take you from my life
I reconsider on that second step
That will take me farther from your heart
Until I realize
That I was never in your heart
I was just a port in your storm
That drama in your life
I was just a way to relieve the pain
The loneliness in your bed
I hesitate
Remembering…….Us
At that moment
As I am about to lay my hand on the door knob
I realize
My love for you
Was stronger than
Your lack of convictions
Or your discontented heart
I cared enough to let us go
I realized at that very moment
My love for myself
Was stronger than
My lust for you
The moment of realization
Was so sudden and so strong
That I staggered
And I hesitated
Remembering
Me
How it was before
You, Us, This
The momentum of this realization propels me forward
Out the door
Away from your indifference
And into Love
