I have been giving Rastafarian beliefs a lot of thought recently. I find it so empowering notwithstanding inspiring. I love it when they say I and I. Meaning I and god.

They have some good practices and some not so good but my main point for posting this is this.

I believe Rastafari should be accepted as a religion and not just as a way of life.

    Bob Marley - Buffalo soldier

    "Buffalo Soldier"

    Buffalo Soldier, Dreadlock Rasta:
There was a Buffalo Soldier in the heart of America,
Stolen from Africa, brought to America,
Fighting on arrival, fighting for survival.

I mean it, when I analyze the stench -
To me it makes a lot of sense:
How the Dreadlock Rasta was the Buffalo Soldier,
And he was taken from Africa, brought to America,
Fighting on arrival, fighting for survival.

Said he was a Buffalo Soldier, Dreadlock Rasta -
Buffalo Soldier in the heart of America.

    If you know your history,
Then you would know where you coming from,
Then you wouldn't have to ask me,
Who the 'eck do I think I am.

I'm just a Buffalo Soldier in the heart of America,
Stolen from Africa, brought to America,
    Said he was fighting on arrival, fighting for survival;
Said he was a Buffalo Soldier win the war for America.

Dreadie, woy yoy yoy, woy yoy-yoy yoy,
Woy yoy yoy yoy, yoy yoy-yoy yoy!
Woy yoy yoy, woy yoy-yoy yoy,
Woy yoy yoy yoy, yoy yoy-yoy yoy!
Buffalo Soldier troddin' through the land, wo-ho-ooh!
Said he wanna ran, then you wanna hand,
Troddin' through the land, yea-hea, yea-ea.

    Said he was a Buffalo Soldier win the war for America;
    Buffalo Soldier, Dreadlock Rasta,
    Fighting on arrival, fighting for survival;
Driven from the mainland to the heart of the Caribbean.

Singing, woy yoy yoy, woy yoy-yoy yoy,
Woy yoy yoy yoy, yoy yoy-yoy yoy!
Woy yoy yoy, woy yoy-yoy yoy,
Woy yoy yoy yoy, yoy yoy-yoy yoy!

    Troddin' through San Juan in the arms of America;
    Troddin' through Jamaica, a Buffalo Soldier# -
Fighting on arrival, fighting for survival:
    Buffalo Soldier, Dreadlock Rasta.

Woy yoy yoy, woy yoy-yoy yoy,
Woy yoy yoy yoy, yoy yoy-yoy yoy!
Woy yoy yoy, woy yoy-yoy yoy,
Woy yoy yoy yoy, yoy yoy-yoy yoy! [fadeout]

In the uk it's dismissed as a religion and seen as a way of life.

It would seem that this is the viewpoint of the Vatican whose job it is to validate anything that comes under the banner of Christianity.

It is a way of life.....I do not want to see it become a more organize religion than it already has.
The Boboshante (your name sake) are indeed deeply religious and that has its strong point.....Prince Emmanuel
Orthodox is religious......Ethiopian (older than Catholicism)
12 tribe is almost secular.......Prophet Gad
Nyahbhingi is still in my mind a vibrate Movement.......Oldest Mansion of the House of Rastafari
Coptic was really a Marijuana cult.......Brother Luv

Rastafari is not really Christian but because it has strong Christian elements many consider it such.
Rasta the way I learn it predate and informs both Christianity and the Pharaohs religious beliefs coming directly from Vodoo but having syncretize various elements of Christianity so as to bring home lost sheep whose mind have been co-opted by evangelism.

Some of the elements of Rastafari is similar to indu spirituality.

I love the livity concept and vegetarian doctrine. Far too many dreads whom I don't consider to be Rasta.

Dread is a fashion to me whilst real Rasta is about connecting with your surroundings and holy Emmanuel / god. I suppose in Christianity the trinity.

Surprised at the voodoo association as Rasta bun iniquity.

Some good points made Frankster for that I thank you bredah.

True.....Kali is the name of a Hindu God.
The smoking of Ganja is great influence by Hindu sadhu

Dread is now a hair style but it was not always so.
Originally it was the Bushman/Blackheartman who was so called. The Blackheartman/Bushman did not live within the confines of accepted society and so was often unkempt and hair natty, as such he had to live (forage) of the land. So being a herbalist was natural and it evolve into vegetarianism(Ital). Blackheart because He preach hatred of the European system of colonialism.

Boukman Dutty was a Blackheartman who sailed from Jamaica to Haiti to help kick off the successful Haitian revolution, also the primary catalyst for the ending of the whole system of slavery and the slave trade.
Unlike Christ whose cry was "the day of the Lord is at hand" Bookman's refrain can still be heard on the lips of Rasta today....."The whiteman God only love your blood sweat and tears, fyah bun all weak heart kill"

Rasta is about connecting with Africa
Rasta is about learning to love Africa and Africans once again.
Rasta is about freedom from a colonized education
Rasta is about accepting your blackness and freeing your African spirit.
    selah

Any Ras who bun Vodun as iniquity is still in thralls of a colonized mind.....so we "do not throw pearls before swines, lest they trample it underfoot"
Then you need to know what Vodun/Vodoo truly is.....Vudoo is Spiritual Science.
The whiteman don't want you to know your own, so he tells all it is bad ignorant and stupid
We have been taught to hate our own...here is a overview

We here to share and learn each one teach one.

They use to but not all do now as most accept that Selassie is just a man.

That said Selassie is a descendant of King Solomon and the Queen of Sheba hence the reason he is referred to as king of kings.

Voodoo as I know it is a mixture of Catholicism and African naturalism. As you know Frankster Rasta bun all ism. Also Rasta hates iniquity and Obeah.

Women are not allowed to cook whilst on their monthly cycle. I am sure you understand why.

Haiti is the only country that deals with voodoo. If you check its history you will see how intertwine it is with Catholicism.

Not sure what the African naturalist is called but voodoo is only an off shoot of it.

I disagree with it being a Abrahamic religion but the rest is correct for the most part.
Yes most Rasta worship Selassie......I would say upwards of 99%
