Looks like rain today when I peer
Out my window as the night greets
The dawn with the arrival of a sun
Fighting its way through gray clouds;

I rise from my bed to search for the day
Reasons to smile and purpose to escape
The security of my blanket that keeps me
Warm from the stillness of the cold world;

Looking around the room I seek my peace
Resting in the corner next to a half melted
Candle resting in its wax covered holder
That has sealed its place on the tattered rug

I quietly listen to the breeze greeting my
Window as it ventures past on its way to
Places few can see and I begin to wonder
If I could float on its trail of serenity;

I visit my peace searching the pages to
Find a reason to stand and enter the world
With happiness and joy when the day looks
to be one covered in misery and pain

Only to find parables of old and gospels of life
Retelling stories of fisherman frightened in their
Boats by the raging seas and their cargo standing
In the midst of the storm beckoning them to follow;

I am comforted by the words of trust that ring
From the pages as the one whom walk on the seas
And rest in the midst of storms can show many
More how to “step out in the midst of trials.”

I step away from my peace strengthened
by its Words lifting my head to the day as
it peers its Blue through my window to assure
me that today the rains will be unlike no other;

So I open my door with umbrella in hand and peer
out over the horizon to see a rainbow resting as it
awaits the stroms to pass and I smile when a bird
lands before my feet to take the seeds I drop;

and I lay my umbrella back inside my door with my
coat for the rainbow reminds me of the fisherman's
faith and i thought “I’ll walk to work today…Time to
get wet…Holy Spirit…Rain down on me…"
