    New PETA Campaign Sparks Outrage

Aug. 9, 2005 -- Three months after PETA apologized for using Holocaust images in an animal rights campaign, a new exhibit comparing animal cruelty to the enslavement and lynching of blacks is sparking new outrage.
    By Dana Williams | Writer/Editor, Tolerance.org

The lifeless bodies of two noosed black men, dangling from trees as a mob of whites sheepishly surveys the scene.
The smoldering corpse of a black man, burned alive atop a pile of wood.

The terrified face of a slave, wearing only a piece of cloth about her waist as a man presses a hot branding iron to her back.

You don't think comparing animal abuse to slavery is a bit extreme? I don't agree with animal abuse either, but human abuse is much, much worse.

i suppose i do not hold myself so much apart from animals as others do.
    i am an animal.

some of the outrage should be vented toward the meat processing industry.

That's interesting... however, most put other people in a higher light because they are like themselves; human. I don't know how a chicken feels, but I can guess how another person feels if placed in an adverse situation because they have the same complex thoughts and emotions as I do.

and of course you fail to see how much you sound like a segregationist talking about black people.

we need to stop abusing animals, complex feelings or not.

Dont see how they can spend any time, money or energy on the animals until they can first solve human slavery and abuse.

Do they really expect people to care about this problem if they dont with humans.

I think that comparing the segregationist to an animal abuser is a good comparison. Many whites, during the times of segregation, and maybe even now did not believe that Black people were fully human and therefore did not believe that Blacks had the same feelings that a white person had. So they could hang a Black man or brand a Black woman without feeling guilt just like people can now cause pain to animals and not feel guilty or think it's a big deal.

IMO, anyone who abuses an animal would also abuse a person if they could get away with it.
