Pantsuit Nation and the Tale of the Pumpkin Spice Allies
Today I’d like to tell you about Pumpkin Spice Allies, and why they represent such a problem for racial progress

... Pumpkin Spice Allies appear during special times of the year (just like your annoying family members at the holidays); but they aren’t there when the table is being prepared or when the mess afterward is being cleaned up. After enjoying your labor, they can be found on your front porch, where they hint that your efforts have fallen short, they are quick to criticize your labor, whose fruits they have just enjoyed ...

That's a rather Americacentric view from Jarret Lyons, or just plain ignorant. Not everybody in the world follows the American holiday calender, the Dutch don't celebrate the 4th of july or Thanksgiving (robbing land of the natives?) for example, but do have Sinterklaas from the end of november till 5 december, Christmas is celebrated, but several weeks later. The Americans derived Santa Claus from Sinterklaas, but appearantly couldn't stand the idea of black characters on roofs and getting in people's houses to deliver presents to children and replaced them with elves. And it was the Americans that put the racism into facepainting, the Dutch have never known blackface or minstrel shows and now they come to blame the Dutch for facepainting like America has no racism issues left?

Besides the perspective, he didn't get the facts right either.
-The dispute is whether Zwarte Piet is racist, if people would agree it was racist, there would be no Zwarte Piet anymore.
-Dutch whites defend Zwarte Piet, that's true, but Dutch blacks also. This is not a black against white matter, that's projection of American race relations. Most people just don't get what the fuss is about, they don't mind soot Pete, they don't mind a black Sinterklaas (like in some old songs btw), they don't mind him riding a camel instead of horse, they do mind beeing called a racist though and they do mind a grim atmosphere around the children that comes with protests.

This year the annual celebration of Sinterklaas' arrival in the Netherlands was in Dokkum which is in famously stubborn region of the country calles Friesland with it's own flag, it's own language, it's own national anthem and it's famously stubborn people.
    - The road was blocked to prevent the two buses of protesters reaching Dokkum before the celebration was over by Frisians, not by the hard right, alt right, extreme right or even mild right. That suggestion was debunked within hours by the alt left, which monitors the hard right closely. Any proper journalist could en should have known that.
    - The road blockers didn't take sides in the dispute, they didn't want the celebration spoiled by protesters, counterprotesters and massive police presence. That spoils the fun for the kids, no matter how well behaved the anti-Piet protesters are.
    - There was huge chauvinistic sentiment about people from Amsterdam coming to Friesland to tell the Frisians how to live and spoiling their party in the process. If it were Frisians to protest Zwarte Piet it would have been a different thing. But they don't care much about the dispute there, just like the people in most regions, the heated debate is something from the urbanized West of the country.
    - The road block was executed quite clumsily but there was no violence or threat with violence at all. But it's illegal of course so the blockers will have to face a judge.
    - The protesters decided to try again two weeks later, yesterday. The road blockers made a video to tell them they are welcome in Dokkum, that they still don't get why someone would protest Zwarte Piet but there's freedom of expression 364 days a year.
    - The protest went ahead, a few speeches which must have made a few Frisians wonder whether is was about Zwarte Pete or racism in the USA, and music, not much happening. The only ones spoiling the atmosphere were the police. Appearantly the mayor and the police wanted overcompensate for their poor handling of the road block, because they were there in ridiculous numbers. It probably could have done without any police present. The protesters left singing 'thank you Dokkum'.

Charlottesville? Please, not everything is about America. Maybe instead of using some silly tradition in the Netherlands and add 'fake news' to say something about America that has already been said, a journalist might try to find out why this tradition has survived the last 5 decades.

    Is this a bad thing?
The millennials speak of segregation as the only way. And blame the CRM for integration
Personally, I’ve believed Charter Schools would be best for Our kids, if we can get excellent Black educators.

And that is the problem, there simply aren't enough Black teachers/educators in Charter or traditional public schools. White teachers seriously out number non-white teachers in Charter schools.

To your question, "is this a bad thing? ...

The article offers that desegregation is not only constitutional, but is the only way to improve student achievement, overall. It points to Charter schools becoming segregated, by choice, of both white and black parents. According to the civil rights attorney, this is a bad thing because nothing else works.

In my mind, this issue centers around the question, whether separate can be equal. And in my view, it can be made equal, provided minority schools are afforded the same curriculum's afforded to white schools.

    ...

Let's Talk About "White People Facing the Most Discrimination" and Other Insane Trump Voter Fallacies
December 19, 2017 by CHELSEA HASSLER
    First Published: August 23, 2017

... Thirty-seven percent of all Americans thought African Americans were the most discriminated-against group in America, with eight percent saying Latino Americans, two percent saying Asian Americans, 14 percent saying Native Americans, and 21 percent saying white people. When it comes to strictly Trump voters, though, a staggering 45 percent said it was white people who faced the most discrimination — with 17 percent saying Native Americans, 16 percent saying African Americans, and five percent saying Latino Americans ...
