    Whites are a steadily diminishing fraction of the population. In fact, the demographic trends show that they will no longer be the majority of the population, starting sometime about 2050. Jamelle Bouie has a fine essayexploring what this might mean for American politics:

    Working at Northwestern University, psychologists Maureen Craig and Jennifer Richeson apply that question to demographic change, and, in particular, to white Americans vis-a-vis the prospect of a United States where the majority of Americans are drawn from today's minorities. Does a threat to one's status as the demographic "in-group" increase political conservatism? The answer, in short, is yes… [Slate]

    Most of the essay is exploring what happens to whites as they fear losing their demographic preeminence — Bouie concludes it would look a lot like the "racial polarization of the 2012 election" — but at the end he speculates what could happen if people just start voting their race:

    Unless America goes into COMPLETE decline and becomes a 2nd World country, whites will ALWAYS be in the majority.

    1. They will open the flood gates to European immigration. If they do that, half of Poland will immigrate to the U.S. and most of Eastern Europe.

    2. They will simply designate more "minorities".... but NOT black; NEVER the children of Africa.... as White. Blacker than the soles of my shoes India-Indians are classified as "white." All one has to do is to look at the many "white" ethnics who were NOT classified as white in the beginning, but are so now, beginning with the Irish.

    Personally, I tend to agree with you when you say whites will remain the majority, unless America's demise befalls her, as in America is the fall before Rome.

    And. immigration, along with a false racial classification system will be their tool to ensure dominance.
    But the numbers suggest another point of view:

    Projections Put Whites in Minority in U.S. by 2050

    But if immigration were to merely slow, rather than stop, non-Hispanic whites, who now account for nearly two-thirds of the population, would become a minority by 2050, according to the projections released Wednesday. If the pace of immigration increases, that benchmark could be reached as early as 2040.

    Depending on the pace of international migration, the nation’s population, currently at 308 million, could grow to as much as 458 million by midcentury, with immigrants accounting for up to 136 million of the increase.

    Aye Kadijah,

    You make some good points about what they might do but the internet is really making white people aware who profits from dividing the world and as more and more white people not able to make a decent living, not able to go to a good university, their kids not able to mobile upwardly and better the standard of life their parents provided for them are now taking notice and turning their attention to class. As long we continue to practice plantation style capitalism, profit by exploitation, our system will have an expiration date.

    I guess my point is as race becomes less of a factor and income inequality becomes a larger one in the minds of white voters and policy makers, perhaps the economic and educational issues that undermine the success of black communities are addressed because those issues are the same ones that are undermining common white people too.

    Occupy Wall Street was a history mark in social movements and it was young white people who spoke up and pointed out that income inequality was raging out of control and affected their lives and not healthy for the country. Income inequality has been raging since the worst President on the United States pushed his backward crooked down economics on all American's, Drug Pusher and Chief, Ronald Reagan.

    I think when income inequality AGAIN becomes a great concern and addressed with policies which happened during FDR's 4 administrations, some of the important issues black people are concerned with will get some relief simply because the majority population is being undermined too.

    My hope when we go through another economic meltdown like we had in 2008, I hope it is so bad it devastates all, rich and poor, old and young and like the Great Depression it will bring on real change and policies to put an end to this income inequality that undermines us minorities but the majority too.

    But FoxNews is a great sign that divide and conquer along race and class is well and alive and they love what is going on because what we see as income inequality they see as success.

    Race will NEVER become "less of a factor" to white voters and policy makers. It is not by accident that wherever you go in the world, whites are on top and the sons and daughters of Africa are on the bottom.

    Yep, its hard to argue with that but history will repeat itself as income inequality continues to widen, it was white and black people who held FDR with reverence when he implemented policies to spread the wealth. The rich hated FDR when he started SSI, Glass Steagall Act and other stuff and then he proposed the 2nd Bill of Rights:
    The right to a useful and remunerative job in the industries or shops or farms or mines of the Nation;

    The right to earn enough to provide adequate food and clothing and recreation;

    The right of every farmer to raise and sell his products at a return which will give him and his family a decent living;

    The right of every businessman, large and small, to trade in an atmosphere of freedom from unfair competition and domination by monopolies at home or abroad;

    The right of every family to a decent home;

    The right to adequate medical care and the opportunity to achieve and enjoy good health;

    The right to adequate protection from the economic fears of old age, sickness, accident and unemployment;

    And what happened to it?

    Didn't pass a health care act, but he did pass the Social Security Act. HOWEVER.... FDR was adamant that domestic workers (your female ancestors) and farm workers/sharecroppers (your female AND male ancestors) were NOT to be included in Social Security. Their "inequality" continues to this day.... and the country hasn't fallen apart because of it.

    Just like it didn't fall apart because of the inequality of slavery.

    Race trumps everything in the eyes of white people.

    Good points! However its 2014 when income inequality causes another economic meltdown perhaps again in 2016 perhaps it will create an environment for anti-income inequalities policies to become law. But meanwhile black people need to build our own as best and fast as we can.

    And why do you think whites in this country brought 10 million new guns, after Obama's election, AK 47s/Ar 15s?
