James I heard the news when I came from work. He was a great man. After spending 27 years in one of the most brutal jails in South Africa. He was not bitter. I remembered the day he was released.

Sad to say South Africa has a black president but to my mind the situation is not very much different than in the pre-apartheid days.

Mr. Mandela had a very radical approach during the ANC's early reign(which caused him to be jailed.) .. but not sure if his peaceful transition really helped SA. It seems that white folks only know violence and looking at SA now it seems that nothing has changed. White folks love to know that black folks are peaceful...this has not really helped us at all. Mandela received the Nobel Peace Prize.

His death will be felt by all black folks around the world,

May the black leaders of black countries begin to do for their people what Madela did in his early years taking a stand in the midst of great difficulty and willing to go to jail for a just cause.

The black leaders in Africa should take time out to reflect on what they are doing to the African Continent.

White folks should hang their heads in shame. Almost 30 years of a man's youthful years spent in a prison where he had to cut rocks and stone. No wonder the dust he inhaled during those years contributed to his lung condition. White folks attitude has not changed. They are still racist and evil without any concern or consideration for black folks.

Not one of the white countries in Europe campaigned against Mandela's release (as far as I know). All of them are just the same pot of pumpkin.

Mandela... you fought a battle and it is time the others continue the fight.

    May you rest in peace.

All hail to a wonderful man, who has served his ppl, his country and the world brilliantly. He never allowed bitterness to enter his life, in spite of the hell he was subjected too.

This is one part of his make up that would be wonderful for us to adopt.

Don't allow Bitterness and Hatred to control your life....They have a tendency to shorten it!

Rest in Peace Mr. Mandela, your presence will be greatly missed.

I'm conflicted with my feelings about Mandela's transition. On one hand he was suffering....Yet he did live a long life. Unfortunately a significant portion of his life was tough. I love my people but not everyone is built like Mandela....few are. I'm not ashamed in saying I'm not. The phrase rest in peace may never be more appropriate than it is now...Our brother deserves some peace after all his struggles. The biggest injustice of racism may be that many of us cannot obtain some sort of peace until we die.....

I had to walk away from a white coworker today who said "If it weren't for him apartheid would still be going on."
