RIP Leo Dillon
Leo Dillon, an illustrator who collaborated with his wife, Diane, on dozens of books for children and adults and became the first black to receive the Caldecott Medal for children’s books, has died. He was 79.
They also illustrated The People Could Fly and Her Stories—you know, the book with the Black mermaid picture that’s making the Tumblr rounds—and the 1979 edition of A Wrinkle in Time, among many other things.
