Whattup Pops ? I hardly knew you & then you died

Yet [at 42] I miss you more than ever today

I met you [at 33] & all I could say was:

    Who are you ? - Why now ? - I’m a grown man !!

How wrong I was. Ten years ago today

    You departure day came

Just as swiftly as you entered my life

Just as quickly you were gone

    Sometimes I ask out loud:

Is there a God up in Heaven?

Why allow good people to cry & suffer ?

Why allow children to grow without the love

& watchful eyes of a loving Dad ?

    I simply ask:

    Why ??

Not having to face this journey but creating one myself helps me to relate and understand that this is the outcry of so many young black brothers and sisters hopefully these words are not in vain. Signed Tdogg

Very Nice. It's never too late to right the path in relations. I hope the time you did spend with your father be never forgotten.

I'm not sure whether to weep or scream
I feel your pain. And it leads one to the question
    when will the 'whys' end.

    - I know I have no right to question our Creator. I laso have learned that growing up fatherless has made me [at least in the view of my kids] the best father a child can have. A child should never grow up with the degree of anger I grew up with.

    - I work with incarcerated youths, and all I see in them is my own reflection. I encouraged them to write about their feelings, and suprisingly -- their poems are similar to mine. In the final analysis, our Creator does things for a reason -- even if the price to pay is pain where it hurts the most; heart & soul.

    PEACE

Olorun1 I beg to differ we not only have the right to question our Creator, we have the duty. For only in questioning will we discover truth. Question everything. Sad to say, but maybe this generation of unfathered youths will yield more men like you.
