I'm presenting a question for young and old, male and female. There is only one catch. This question my have multiple answers but you can only choose one. So with that in mind here is the question:

As African Americans what is the best thing we can do to make a positive impact for our people?

I personally believe if more African American men would step up and provide leadership for their families (wife, children) half the battle would be won.

What do you think? Please share.

I feel the best thing that we can do is to listen to each other more. Stop trying to analyze each other. Stop trying to prove who is wrong and who is right. Just listen to each other. The answer is right here within us but everybody wants to talk. Nobody wants to listen.

Teach our people their positive history/legacy in order to stop this epidemic of self-hatred.

I believe African men should master themselves before leading others.

    well

I feel that we have to make conscious efforts to understand the changes in our community and then tackle problems efficiently from there. No solution is permanent; not in a world that evolves quicker than you can blink. One thing I've noticed about a few of our elders, on and off camera, is that they fail to understand the youth. They believe that the good old days were the way that things should be but it's not that easy for all of us to relate such as they do.

We fight to keep traditions alive but what good is tradition when times are changing and those systematics no longer benefit us? We don't need any more Cosby type commentary.

You have an excellent point. We must evolve new plans and strategies to effectively handled our condition. This can only be done with the cooperation of our elders. We must see our elders as the foundation to be built upon not as antiquated and obscelete. The youth need to peep that knowledge, our seniors don't become senior by happenstance.
