We are most likely "evolved" from Homo heidelbergensis the common ancestor we (humans) share with neanderthals, who are our closest extinct relative. Of course, there was inbreeding among our species and homo neanderthalensis. But I would say that our (human beings) direct evolutionary ancestor was heidelbergensis. Enjoy your day...
Thank you for sharing. Humans first evolved in Africa, and much of human evolution occurred there. The fossils of early humans who lived between 6 and 2 million years ago come entirely from Africa. Africans are considered "older" than Neanderthals, indicating that modern humans originated in Africa before migrating and evolving into different groups like Neanderthals in Europe.

While you may lay claim to Neanderthals being your closest extinct relative, I do not. To the topic, I am not surprised Neanderthals were atheist, but that is not true of ancient Africans.
