    once upon a time
    we had Authority
    good ole boys in blue
    to protect and serve
    to serve and protect
    but who?
    unarmed and on the street
    since we all look alike
    line us up
    shoot us down
    call it resistance
    where is our outrage
    because justice
    is a joke
    and it's on us
    even the darkest shades
    don't cover my eyes
    veiling the perception of things
    i see
    assume the position
now which one would that be?
    spread-eagled on the ground
    maybe?
    if i can't move
and i put my hands where
    you can see
    "sorry officer.
    last I checked,
    guns didn't ring."

Yes it worked. Unfortunately we are judged by the acts of some. So I guess we have to view the police the same way they view us. I hear ya.

Oh my goodness! I remember growing up thinking a cop was wonderful. I obey the law, but I really don't trust too many cops. This poem needed to bewrittem for all of our folks who have been silenced by the badge. Great flow, Toylin

Thanks y'all... I wrote this with a lot of things going on in my head, like the Amadou Dialo case, Malice Green, that movie, Light It Up ", and even a few years back here in Michigan, the cops shot a deaf man because he "threatened them with his rake."

    and the question still resonates...
    why are we not "Angry"...
    these types of injustices
    are much too common...
    and yes...
    Protect and Serve has
    never applied to us...

    Sad but true...
    Conscious flow Sister!
