    Hello Family,

I was having a discussion with a friend recently, and the following information was shared with me. I don't know how true it is, but i'm sharing it here, and hoping you all will add on.

It seems that there are very few products targeted to Black Males (by White corporate America, which spends the majority of marketing dollars). A couple of reasons were given to me, for this ...

    1. Black males have little "wealth" ... out of the available markets, yall are the least wealthy ... and your money is often fleeting, rarely rising to the level of "wealth."

    2. White America does not want to encourage a lot of Black males to come in their store ... yall will scare the White folk away.

I don't know how true any of this is, but it got me to wondering ...

What products / services are specifically marketed to Black males?

It was brought to my attention that alcohol is ... the 40oz is not only marketed to Black males, but was made for yall.

In addition, athletic shoes (what used to be called tennis shoes), as well as some apparel. White corporate America realizes that if Black males don't like what they present, their White consumers will not buy into it either ... so they market these to you.

As i type this, i'd imagine we could add hip hop / rap to this list?

Another thing that comes to mind is that stinky shaving cream, is that a Black man thing? I don't believe i've ever seen a commercial for it though.

All of that to ask ... again ...

What products / services are specifically marketed to Black males?

Is the lack of products marketed to Black males an indication of ... anything?

    Please share your thoughts.

    Thanks.

Destee I have never seen a commercial for that MAGIC (c) shaving powder either. I heard of it from my brother. He couldn't shave while in the military. It was a word of mouth thing. It is totally targeted for black men. I have a can, used it once. I have the frangrance but it is still funky stuff. whew..

There are some hair color products now for us. A few but this of course is because we complained that there were no black personal care products on the grocery store shelves.

    The black mans shaver.

    The black mans dictionary.

Some silly things huh? I'm struggling of more.

Black men do not need the things a woman needs eye shadow, lipstick, personal care products, etc. Plus men in general do not spend as much as women do and marketers know this. When we do spend we like eletronic stuff, it has to have wiress and wheels, and springs or something. We also buy big ticket items , more than women. Women still out pace us in spending because they have to buy so much more to get the look, they desire. So the small many out pace the giant few of men.

you know as i read this , they market (chains) for blacks big time
we into the bling bling thing !

but i fine myself struggling to really see what they market for us
    mostly everything for the whites

what is really market to Blacks are harmful and to destroy our living
like the 40oz , drugs , Guns but in the big corporate america we don't have much
products are crafted and made for whites but we buy them

They market weave hair , horse hair for blacks a major target that give them
    big revenue off us .
