in the time to come,
that i must be.
only a ghost,
of what you see.

remember me.

if day should call,
and night should tarry.
upon my hard worked brow,
to approve my marriage.

comfort me.

in my work place,
where i toil and strife.
if ever i should claim darkness,
as my light.

rekindle me.

if ppl should say,
that i am of no concern.
and deny me as living,
to tenderly tell me i can't learn.

teach me.

in times of sorrow,
where grief is my companion.
and loneliness holds me,
like a gear held on park in a standard.

get me going.

if all else fails,
and i cease to see the truth.
hide not your presence,
return to me like a mother for her youth.

return to me.

lastly i pray that if i forget,
where i have come.
lead me in the right way,
toward you oh God--to the rising sun.

lift me up.

but don't lift me so high,
that i forget where i must return.
cuz when i finish my prayer,
these are the things i must learn.........................

THAT YOU ARE ABOVE ALL AND NONE IS SO HIGH THAT THEY ARE ABOVE YOU

(after the prayer)

(sigh).........................if i must continue,
let me continue in song.

(music) i thought i knew that life,
could teach me the basics.
but it taught it not,
and if it did--i couldn't taste it.
cuz i longed for sin,
like a vampire for blood.
and did what i wanted,
to do what i does.
drown myself in ,
my sorrows.
until i enter the land,
of no more tomorrows.

HA HA!

mind too blind to see,
what was happening to me.
cuz i was too sinful to be called a christian,
claiming God--calling him--but never listening.
still stuck in my ways,
and caught in a daze.
where the world is my shade,
from the worlds game charades.

HA HA!

i thought i knew life,
but it knew me better.
it told me the heart was a cold device,
always longing for a sweater.
and i warmed it so much,
that it was even too hot for me to touch.
for me,
and it was my mind.
i think i thought enough,
to bring peace to my rhyme....

BUT

(music stops)

(resuming prayer)

(clears throat) Lord give me the peace to know,
what i should do.
to please no one,
but you.

let me find pleasure in your sight.

and bring you the gifts of my soul,
which only you control.
Master i have a prayer on my mind,
and it goes like this..................

make me whole and.......................................................

the prayer of the untaught.............learns nothing worth praying for
