Can I put my afro on
Raise my fist in the air
Run my afro pic
Through
My nappy course hair
Do I dare
Hold my head up high
Stride by
With all my
Black hip swish
Catching a Black eye
Ooooooooooooooh
Guuuuuuuurl
Got Dayyyyyum!
Brotherman
Grabbing his manly pride
My natural
Cherry colored lips
Thick caramel
Definitely chocolate
Still frame photo

Knows me
As a masterpiece
Please know me
As a Bbbbbbbbbbad Mutha-
Sista
Lover
Nothing less
Or other

Than Queen
Can I cornrow Black
My Queen's cap
That keeps me
Crowned in glory
His story
Can't be called the truth
How the uncouth negate The most beautiful ways
Some say
The ancestors fly high Around the son
Turning him into the Blackest knight
While I smile
Holding my womb tight
Never know
When a brotha shows
He's ready to be a King
So
I prepare to bring my gifts
Spritedness
Naturalist
Swiftly elocuting
*smack*
An ear kiss
Got to speak to the soul
Where I am told
Black love will leave
Sighs in your chest
Nothing left to be there
But love
Nothing else matters...
Can I be as strong
As the Black bone
That got me misconstrued
Include me as being wise
Wisdom more profound
Besides, as much as I try
I ain't never gonna be
Strong enough to forget
How weak I am for intimates
My feminist
Can do it for her dayum self
Underneath
Truth being said
Ain't nothing dred
About a loc'ed head
Just a locked mind
That hasn't learned to pic
The key
Is indeed inside your soul
My ancestors
Whispered in my ear
Told me some folks
Don't even know
How beautiful it is to be
Black
In fact the undone
Want to wash off
The Black face
Having no trace
When and where
We Black Faces got lost
No need
Finding something
You ain't looking for
Don't want to be found
Not loving yourself
As I put my afro on
Run my afro pic
Through my
Nappy course hair
Hold my head up high
Catching the eye
Of Black faces by choice
Not by circumstance
I Raise my fist in the air
Open my third eye
I stare
Into the abyss of darkness
Black faces
Traces of
fathers
mothers
sistas
brothers
lovers
friends
Continue to be strong
Ain't nothing wrong
With keeping your
Black face on
Be powerful People
Black faces that feel
How real it is to know
Your Black ***
Struggling to stride
Your Black face
Smiling with pride
Eye by eye can’t deny
How Beautiful it is
To be Black
Power to the People!
POWER
TO THE PEOPLE!
POWER
TO A
BLACK
FACE
PEOPLE
Be powerful
People that feel
How real it is to be
Black
Faced
People
Keep keeping on your Black face…
