    Would you be interested in this? I'm creating this for my own site and thought I'd share it with you. All it is a button for post new thread. Sounds mad lazy but it prevents from having to go inside the subforum just to create a thread. The downside is that duplicate topics might get posted if someone is posting a news story and someone else posts one on the same story because they didn't go inside the thread to see if someone else posted it for example.

    Edit: Just realized that probably won't happen cause your home page is new posts.

    The actual button would be smaller and fade out just like the RSS feed icon.

    Try this.

    This is temporary as I'm trying to figure out how to move the button to the left of the rss button. It does it in google chrome but not firefox.

    Search for nodeControls. It will be in template node_forum_level_2
    Code:

    <div class="nodeControls">
    <a href="{xen:link forums/create-thread, $forum}" class="postnTopic">
                <a href="{xen:link forums/index.rss, $forum}" class="tinyIcon feedIcon" title="{xen:phrase rss}">{xen:phrase rss}</a>
            </div>

    Add the second line underneath nodeControls.
    Code:
    Extra.CSS

    /* Add Post Topic icon to Node list */
    .postnTopic {
    background: transparent url('http://www.the8thlegion.com/images/topicy.png');
    padding: 2px;
    opacity: 0.5;
    float: left;
    width: 50px;
    height: 16px;
    margin-right: 9px;
    }

        .postnTopic:hover {
        opacity: 1;
        }

    If you don't want your create thread button viewable to guests try adding a conditional.

    Code:
    <div class="nodeControls">
    <xen:if is="{$visitor.user_id}">
    <a href="{xen:link forums/create-thread, $forum}" class="postnTopic"></xen:if>
                <a href="{xen:link forums/index.rss, $forum}" class="tinyIcon feedIcon" title="{xen:phrase rss}">{xen:phrase rss}</a>
            </div>

    I'm using 1.1. Beta 4. The code I created works for all versions.

    Did you add this in Extra.css?

    Code:
    Extra.CSS  /* Add Post Topic icon to Node list */ .postnTopic { background: transparent url('http://www.the8thlegion.com/images/topicy.png'); padding: 2px; opacity: 0.5; float: left; width: 50px; height: 16px; margin-right: 9px; }      .postnTopic:hover {    opacity: 1;    }
