This is a different style from my usual flow, but the poem just came to me as I re-organising and found a musical porcelain doll I've had for years.

    Porcelain Life

    As I watch her,
her porcelain face stares back at me,

Her big blue eyes, with long painted lashes,
A china doll, from my childhood days,
    before my innocence was lost,

Her pursed pink lips smile as I
remember the days I'd play her tune,
I hear it now, the sweet lullaby,

Her dress isn't so perfectly white,
    instead,
    it's a faded yellow,

The pillow on which she sits,
is still soft and touched with lace,

I reach under her dress and
    feel the cold metal handle,
    slowly I turn it,
    one click at a time,

    As the sweet lullaby song
    touches my ears
    I remember,
dolls and candy and teddy bear picnics,
    I remember,
    the night time stories
and how I'd dream happy thoughts,

    I close my eyes
as I listen to the tune
    and I fall asleep -
    for the last time.
