Black People : Polygamy proposal for Chechen men

Chechnya has lost so many men to war that survivors should be legally allowed to take several wives, acting Prime Minister Ramzan Kadyrov has said. Speaking on Russian radio, the pro-Moscow leader said this was "necessary for Chechnya because we have war - we have more women than men".

He was backed by Russian parliamentary deputy speaker Vladimir Zhirinovsky.

Russian law restricts citizens to one marriage, but Islamic custom allows a man to take up to four wives.

'No interference

Mr Kadyrov told Ekho Moskvy radio that women in the Russian republic outnumbered men by 10%, and that a man should be able to choose how many wives he had without the state getting involved.

"Every man decides for himself how he should live. He is the boss, he decides, I am sure that his personal life will not be interfered with," he said.

Mr Zhirinovsky, who is the leader of the ultra-nationalist Liberal Democratic Party (LDPR), said polygamy should be applied across Russia "because we have 10 million unmarried women".

He told the state-owned Itar-Tass news agency that he would introduce an amendment in the spring parliamentary session.

Sorry to keep bringing this up, but ironically this subject has been continually appear in the news. I find it interesting that in this particular town, women outnumber men by "only" 10%. Yet that is enough for polygamy to be considered a viable option for some to address differences in the available male-female ratio. By all accounts the available male to female ratio in the US is greater than 10% in all communities.

Well, in the U.S. if the black community can find a way to make this happen then it will be considered, and it will be like many other African cultures. The Mormon existence already shows that it can be done even in America. But blacks will receive more flack so anything that is done has to be clandestine.

But it would have to be a massive campaign at least secretly to do it, and a lot of couples would need to be able to do it right now to jumpstart it. So it's a mixture of finding single women or even men open to it along with finding married couples who are also into it.

Well, I dunno.. some have said they were single even here.

Regardless, for something like that to work it wouldn't matter if you're single or married. Polygamy needs to have married people willing to partake as much as the single ones.
