I lie

horizontal, no
prostrate ~ more to the condition
of my position~
in a posture of complete
surrender to this agony

that rips gaping holes
in the fabric of
who I be

arms outstretched
upward
outward
to ward
the emptiness
that engulfs

no, that
strangles,

more to the true
nature,

THAT SUFFOCATES
my being

you are not
yet you are
you feel near

but you be far

cold,
no ~
chilling
to the bone
this being
alone

hurt can't
begin to
comprehend
this state
of nothingness

in the absence
of you and
your caress

tears
refuse to fall
frozen in their
place

not a stain will
dry
upon my face

stubborn, my
anguish
will not cry out

WHY?

YOUR EARS WON'T
HEAR ME IF I SHOUT!

your name
lies quietly
in my heart

I embrace
this pain
while we're
apart ...
