"4 More Years they Chanted"

4 More Years they Chanted
In droves of crowds
and it's progressive how they got loud
as the hour drew near
4 more years
the tears had dried that was in some of their eyes
like no one in this war died
I hung my head, it was sad
**** what if 4 more years is all we had
following in the foot steps of a terrorist and his dad
four more years,
four more tears
four more enemies
trying to make that money
having to move across waters in danger of being kidnapped
and losing my neck and hat
because there's no money at home
one of the greatest places in the world to live
yet I feel so alone
and the crowd chants 4 more years louder
into the sky
but when I ask them the questions leading to why
silence is the only reply
"it's just because"
some hoes don't need a reason to suck ****
they just do
but I'm not drawing any relation between them and you
but if you gonna **** up my future
show me an agenda
tell me why I can't afford heat this winter
why am I copying out of my friend's schoolbooks in class
4 more years chanted the masses
when I went to cast my lot
I brought my brother
I brought my mother
I brought my son
everyone I knew had done what I'd done
someone show me where my effort made a dent
show me where the pride in my clean house went
in all honesty my soul is bent
but my head is high and I'm fighting to believe in something
I'm fighting to be bigger than myself
to own more than my four walls and a piece of hall
with a front door and a dog out back with tears in his eyes
because the bone shrank, and the scraps are no more
4 more of this bull****?
my anger is lit
but I must bite the **** out my bottom lip and hold my calm
because a black man is a threat when he feels something
so I must fall back in line
shut my mouth
and pretend I'm dumb
for 4 more years
went the song
