three months from now i’ll gaze into your eyes
and feel as though the world is drowning in my tears
i’ll yearn to give you all the love i have inside
and look forward to nurturing my daughter the rest of my years

the subtle warmth of your skin will exceed the rush of imagining your touch
and hearing you cry will be more pleasing than the sweetest melody
i haven’t met you yet, but i love you so much
and this will grow throughout all eternity

anticipation has never been such a punishing pleasure
curiosity only increases my imagination’s appetite
making sure your taken care of inspires my every endeavor
daddy's gotta make sure his babyqueen is alright.

looking back on my life and the mistakes that i’ve made
makes me wish i’d started preparation for you long before now
raising you means more to me than weekend visits and child support being paid
but thats hard to do when you mother doesn’t want me around

its not her fault though i’ve hurt her so much
that she’s just protecting what little love she has left
but i don’t think she realizes how my soul will be crushed
if i’m not allowed to be there when you take your first breath

not once did it occur to me that my faults were this bad
and you would suffer from my immature ways
baby girl i would give everything that i have
to undo this mess that i’ve made

unfortunately i can’t and now you have to suffer
dealing with all the confusion that comes
from not having a father that’s married to your mother
... a tragedy i had always planned to keep you from

no need for counting my tears or wallowing in shame
i have too much to look forward to get caught up in looking back
wanting the best for you reminds me that there are goals to obtain
so i’d better get myself on track

    He that knoweth floweth!

    It's gonna be alright...
    Though mistakes you make
and hearts do break , hold
on to faith for the unborn's
    sake...we mom's are fierce
    when our hearts you pierce
but loving a child with your
    ex-lover's eyes soon give
    way to maternal ways that
    are wise...keep in mind,it
    takes time, be resigned
    and not be confined, the
child was a part of God's
    grande design!
    Blessings on Ya House!

This side of the tragedy is seldom viewed or even considered but in this piece you have eloquently stated the gamut of emotions experienced by a loving father.
The difficulties of maintaining and developing a good relationship with your daughter from the distance of weekends and child support is virtually impossible but as one who is going through the same thing all I can suggest is that you always remain no more that a phone call away and be their when needed. Miracles do happen and who knows maybe one of these days mothers will recognize a mans worth to his child in time spent over monies sent.
