It's one of your average days. Nothing much to complain about. You decide to come online as your normally do, check your Email, read some threads on Destee. Everyone in the forum is talking about this person that lives in the same city as you do, about how this person committed a horrible crime. How come I didn't hear about this? You wonder. When did this happen? A Youtube video is displayed...
and it's you!!!
Right. How is that possible. You turn on the Television and the video is playing on every single news channel. It's you. Your face, your body- everything. But something still isn't right. You know that's not you, it's impossible.
No actually it is possible. It's called "photorealism". And it's time for us to open up our minds to it.
With photorealistic software, a good animator could use your photograph to create a likeness of you that could get you sent to prison for as long as possible. Especially for someone without an alibi. For some of us this is funny and even silly. Yet the US Government has software that is dimensions ahead of the digital software used to recreated real life people that cost well over $8000. Don't think Disney. That's child's play.
FaceGen for example is a small program but can do very interesting things.
Keep in mind the technology is many levels beyond this now.
Is it possible that in the close future "a trial by a jury of our peers" will be a jury of people sitting in front of a monitor just as we are doing right now but people who are totally blind about photorealism?
How good are your eyes?
