Black celebs keep saying dumb things as the years go by, and now a quote from the "happy boy",.......

“new black” doesn't blame other races for our issues. The “new black” dreams and realizes that it’s not a pigmentation; it’s a mentality. And it’s either going to work for you, or it’s going to work against you. And you’ve got to pick the side you’re gonna be on." -Pharrell Williams

These comments were made while on where else Oprah! lol quite a fitting stage.

What is he then saying about the 'old black', if there ever was?

SOunds like another LL Cool J moment. That's what happens when you're ignorant and know nothing about history. Not even recent history.

Also, why is it that when many of us get up in their, we take on white views and opinions? Is there a memo going around that says that when you get in, the first order of biznezz is to say the black struggle is over with, and blacks need to stop whining about some fictitious thing called racism....

The "new black"...he better watch it, let him step wrong and those same white folks whoes rump he's kissing will show him he's just a plain old.....you know the term:cool:

    Peace!

maybe it's the white views that get us in there to begin with. perhaps that is the selection mechanism?
i have heard successful blacks in NYC talking about 'new black' and 'post black'.
it is a lack of empathy. as long as they get their's they don't care about the rest if us.
in fact, they look down on the rest of us. we need to fix that.

At the end of the day, White man got the bigger bank. If money was my end-all be-all I'd probably be in the White man's camp too. Though probably not.

    :toast:

I agree, and you've made a good observation here. The very situation they deny exist is what they've used to get where they are at. Funny how they don't see that. There was a time when an athlete, politician or celebrity was ridiculed for selling his/her soul for money. Now we’ve always needed money to survive, and there use to be a set of standards and expectations to ensure that the individual didn’t compromise his integrity during their climb up the ladder of power and success. Joe Lewis had to play by the rule to get where he was at, but he also open up a milk company of the south side of Chicago to help the blacks.
