Sometimes my heart is driving with the emergency brake on.
Afraid of what surrendering to love I may have to take on.
I hold you at arms length when you draw near, is it really
    hesitation, or maybe just fear.
Will you stay forever, will you leave me never?
Sometimes my heart is driving with the emergency brake on.
And I can't get up to full speed, get to the place that I need...
If I need , then I am vunerable....
"I don't need nobody but Jesus!" The thought flashed in my head.
An affirmation I nightlly repeated before I would get in my bed.
But, here you come ready to love me.
And here I am wanting to love you.
    What to do ?

Sometimes my heart is driving with the emergency brake on.
Burning rubber as I try to reverse, it is not meant to go backward, "I can't remember the verse!" I sit calmly yet not
cool yet hot! Shaking inside, holding on to foolish pride. Catching an irregular movement in my mobility, I become more aware.
That there is something, something, something holding me there. What?
Sometimes my heart is driving with the emergency brake on.
And I don't even know that it's happening.
I sense the instruction and surrender, "PULL AND RELEASE"!

I feel this...and you expressed the hesitance to go head on and do tha thang, so well...Loved the emergency break analogy!

You work this craft, my Sista Poet, and your messages are always clear, whether real life or an observation. Always are you on point. I wanted to take this moment to appreciate you. You don't hide from the truth.
